The Pink Gilet

I recently started a new job and it's a big change for me in terms of it being an office wear dress code. Me being me though, I'm not one to stick to basics and instead I like to mix it up with patterns, pops of colour and occasionally faux fur. I actually picked this pink gilet up from Matalan, which isn't a shop I usually shop in but I'm so glad I did as it was a bargain for £20! I can see it being great for smarter outfits like this, as well as with more casual jeans and a shirt - I'm having a real faux fur gilet moment as you'll see again in next weeks outfit post...

Autumn Wishlist | September

If you knew me personally, you'd know that I love the cooler, cosier months far more than the warmer  summer months and so with Autumn quickly approaching here in the UK, I've been scouring my favourite stores for some key pieces to add to my wardrobe this season. This has to be by far one of my favourite wishlists I've ever put together as I genially have been lusting after every single item, especially the Zara waistcoat and the cosiest looking Topshop jumper imaginable. Unfortunately the waistcoat is rather pricey so I think this will remain on this list for a good while, as well as this beaut Zara leather studded bag that I need in my life.

As for the rest, I'm slightly late to the lace-up shoe bandwagon after my New Look pair sadly fell apart after only three wears - I quickly sent them back! - and this Office pair is now in the sale and has quickly found its way into my basket along with the NL loafers; I sense a studded/fringe theme here. Finally this River Island cape/jacket is an absolute must for Autumn as it just looks like the cosiest item ever and having tried it on in store a week or so ago, it cemented the fact that I must buy it soon!

What pieces are currently on your Autumn wishlist?

Pink Leather Jacket (& a tortoise?!)

I'm finally back with another outfit post and apologies that it's so short, the sun was playing havoc with the quality and so these were the best photos I could find. Hopefully this photo of me and my grandma's tortoise makes up for the lack of actual outfit photos. This tortoise, Freda, has actually been around since I can remember and despite tortoises not being the most active pets (she literally just walks round her run and sleeps), I love visiting her and being the annoying one who picks her up to have a photo taken - at least one of us looks happy in the photo!

Black on Black

It was a complete nightmare trying to get these photos. The weather outside was beautifully sunny but it was still cold/windy hence the all-black outfit, so practically every photos came out over exposed or blurred. These were the best of a really band bunch so apologies for the rather short post, but I wanted to stick to my 'transitional dressing' this week so I thought I'd put it up anyway.

Inspector Gadget Trench

Better late than never I suppose? This outfit post should have been up on Monday and then this morning but due to the terrible weather mixed with my non-existent home internet, it was near impossible to get this post up before now. At least it's here now and it's a good'un as I finally found my perfect trench coat. Light weight, knee length and highly resembling that worn by Inspector Gadget. Check, check and check.

Zara Wishlist

I'm currently on a spending ban after buying slightly too much already this month but I can still window shop right? I'm been loving all of the new pieces Zara has in at the moment so I thought I'd dedicate an entire wish list post to those lust-worthy items.

Zara always kills it in the bag department and this season seems to be no exception. They have the most simplistic clutches in at the moment that would just add a hint of colour or a chic accessory to any outfit and these two are definitely the ones I've got my eye on at the moment. they also do the turquoise one in orange/red, which I love too. There's also this Chloe-esque bag that I spied a few weeks ago and although it isn't the largest of bags for day-to-day, some days you just really don't feel like carrying much and this would be perfect.

As for the clothes, I love a good striped shirt and this asymmetric version is a beaut and would look great paired with black jeans, a leather jacket and the silver slip-ons. Outfit planning always begins with a wish list! I also love the quirky tops Zara does and these are definitely two of my favourites, the grey-marl is great and they are the perfect throw-on-and-go style.

What's on your wishlist currently?

Fashion Haul ft. ASOS, New Look & Zara

I did quite a bit of shopping towards the start of April so I thought I'd film a haul to show you some of the pieces I picked up, all of which are still available to buy and are linked in the video down bar! Enjoy!

Adidas Superstars

I'm really struggling lately with the quality of my photos. I'm using exactly the same camera and lens that I've been using pretty much the whole time but lately my photos have been coming out 90% blurred leaving me very little options to choose from. I do tend to pick out the most 'unblurred' photos so you can't really tell but in this post especially, it's pretty darn obvious that the quality just isn't there. If anyone knows why my camera is doing this then I'd appreciate the help - I have the settings all set up like normal; AV, 1.8f etc etc. Anyway, onto the outfit...

Raw Edges & Orelia Infinity

Clearly the spring weather hasn't stunted my black/grey clothing wearing. I think I'm stuck in an autumn/winter rut and I just love dressing for the colder months so much more than I do the warmer months. Maybe I'm a colour-aphobe or maybe it's just my inherent love for layering and oversized coats, both of which you can't really get away with when it's warm. That being said, I am trying to wearing more sleeveless layers to transition myself and maybe soon I'll be a fully fledged summer dresser? Or maybe not...

What's In My Bag | Video

This was one of my first ever youtube videos so I thought I'd give you a little update as I've been using a new bag since Christmas and it's slightly more compact than previous. I always enjoy watching these types of videos so hopefully you do too!

If you have any video suggestions, let me know in the comments...

Studio Zara 5th Avenue, NYC

Living in the country is lovely at the best of times but it doesn't half make taking outfit photos difficult! There's just so many open spaces that the wind is constant, these photos were the best of a really bad bunch, hence the more-than-usual headless crops and close ups. That being said, I do really love this outfit, it's something a little different for me but I can see it becoming a go-to smart/casual look and one that would work with several of my other coats too.

Suede It | SS15 Trend

Fashion has a real funny way of moving towards the future while still looking back to the past at the same time. Runways and LFW brought forward the 70s trend into the 21st century with Gucci and Saint Laurent being some of the stand-outs but while we all like to add a bit of quirkiness to our style now and again, that doesn’t mean you want to look like a 70s flashback. Bring hints of the 70s to your look instead with the fabric of the season: suede.

With SS15 comes the new leather. Hang up your stiff, shiny and bulky jackets in exchange for the new (or old) softness of suede. Brown of course is the go-to with this trend up grey and black are also solid contenders for a less ‘hippy’ look.

Now I am a creature of comfort and habit so I'll be sticking with outwear to embrace this trend and both of these jackets are to die for. For those on a budget, this fringed H&M option is perfect to bring in that festival 70s element to your outfit and for those long-term lusters like myself, this Warehouse beauty is perfect thrown over an oversized knit or worn with a basic tee.

A great way to work the suede trend without have to really invest into it is to opt for a bag instead. Tan, grey or black, any will work to inject a bit of this trend into your look without going full-on country girl - or pair a suede bag and mini skirt with an oversized knit or denim shirt for an effortless look.

Are you a fan of the suede trend this season?

Rose Gold & Military

After eyeing up this amazing military-style duster coat from ASOS for a few weeks I finally just took the plunge and bought it and I couldn't be happier with how it looks! It's actually surprisingly long on me, which I didn't expect because of my height, I can't believe I've finally been able to find a long length duster coat. I feel like this could be dressed down super casual with some mom jeans and trainers or you could completely dress it up with a skirt or even just like I have with smoke snazzy shoes.

The Knitted Dress

It was an absolutely beautiful day while taking these photos and I love how it's starting to really feel and look like Spring with daffodils in the background of my photos! I took it as an opportunity to bring out this knitted dress I picked up from Primark last year as I didn't really get the chance to wear it that much. It is rather on the short side but with tights it's fine and layered under my gilet gives a great transitional outfit.

Fashion Haul ft. Zara, H&M, ASOS

I've been doing a little bit of shopping over the past few months and thought, what better way to show you than with a haul! I've actually bought more since filming this (oops!) so maybe there will be another collective haul towards the end of the month. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and don't forget to head over to my channel if you want to see all my videos!

A Smarter Look

On a daily basis my outfits mainly tend to lean towards the smarter end of the spectrum with the odd pair of trainers or mom jeans being thrown in to keep them somewhat casual and wearable for everyday. This outfit however is probably one of the smartest outfits you will ever see me wear and could be easily transformed into a more day-today look by swapping out the skirt for a pair of jeans.

Modern

On first glance you are probably wondering why this post is titled the way it is. It's just jeans, a tee and a leather jacket. Look closer. Now I'd like to think I dress quite with the trends while adding my own touches but this slogan tee is quite literally modern, what with it's oversized drop pocket and lose fit. Although the fact River Island felt the need to point out their 'modern' design, surely means it loses the subtle design elements that really make it...

Mom Jeans

Happy Monday! You wouldn't believe these photos were only taken a day ago if you could see the weather I'm currently confronted by at work, despite my love of winter, this rain needs to stop! Anyway, let me introduce you to what is the most unlike me outfit ever containing no black, baggy jeans and a white t-shirt...and I happen to love it!

Casual Cardigan

You wouldn't really know from these photos judging by my composure and awfully spring-themed outfit but it was actually blowing a force-ten gale while trying to take these. It was also hail stoning and monsoon conditions about five minutes before, clearly I know who to hide it well and how to choose photos from the million and one windswept options available to me!

Wednesday Wishlist #23 | Savings

I'm on a bit of a savings mission at the moment, putting any spare money I get aside in the hopes of being able to buy a few higher priced items. Now I'm not talking hundred of pounds but just a few pieces that I've been lusting after for a while but the price tag is just slightly too high for me to justify buying normally.

The most pricey item on this wishlist is by far the All Saints leather jacket and this one is going to take some serious saving for. I've wanted a leather jacket for the longest time now and these just seem the best quality and I mean just look at all that silver hardware. I need this jacket in my life. I'm also on the hunt for a new purse. I currently have the Mulberry continental wallet in blush but in all honesty, I'm just bored of it after using it for four long years. I never keep purses for that long so it's pretty good going but it's definitely time for a refresh and Vivienne Westwood is just on point with various different colours and styles.
